Pricing change update

Kat Lu

We are announcing updates to our pricing plan. Beginning April 01, 2020, CozyCal's free plan will be removed and only the Pro plan will be available for all users. If you are new to CozyCal, you can enjoy a 10-day free trial. After the free trial ends, you can decide if you want to upgrade to the Pro plan.

Three years ago, we left New York and returned to our home in Vancouver to build CozyCal. It was a period of time filled with excitement but also a lot of uncertainty. We didn't know if things would work out or if we would ever have people paying to use CozyCal. But we chose to give this journey a try. Our vision for CozyCal is simple: to build the most user-friendly and delightful scheduling tool that brings  value to businesses and organizations.

Three years later, we still uphold this mission close to our heart. Each time when a new user tries out CozyCal, each time when a customer tells us that CozyCal is helping them to schedule more clients, and each time when we receive feedback, we feel motivated to continue making CozyCal better.

We are happy that more people are finding out about CozyCal. Over the past three years, we have worked hard to add more features and optimize support to help our customers integrate a delightful scheduling experience for their businesses. We are grateful that users from all over the world trust and use CozyCal to communicate with their clients.

But we also find that it's getting increasingly challenging to keep our business sustainable in the long run if we have to support free users. Even though our free plan doesn't include support, in the end we have been providing support for all users. However, the reality of the situation is our free plan is being subsidized by our customers.

Since we made our feature roadmap public, we have allowed both free and paid users to submit new feature requests and upvote existing ones. By collecting everyone's feedback, we are able to navigate our product development's direction and prioritize building features that are upvoted the most. But we noticed that not all free users who gave us feedback continued to use CozyCal. It becomes difficult for us to weigh each user's feedback equally because some free users might not be willing to wait around for requested features to be built.

As CozyCal becomes a more mature product, we want to channel our resources to focus on serving the needs of our customers. We believe that by prioritizing their feedback, and listening to what they really want, we can build features that offer the greatest value and impact in the long run. It's our goal to grow and thrive together with our customers.

It's not easy for us to make the decision of removing the free plan during a difficult time like now when many businesses are being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many of you, we are also feeling the emotional uncertainty and economic effects of this crisis. Even though CozyCal's free plan won't be available after April 01st, we are happy to offer help to certain businesses that are affected by the outbreak.

If you are a non-profit organization that is helping to fight against COVID-19, reach out to us at support@cozycal.com and we'd like to do our bit by providing a free plan for you.

If you have been a customer, we deeply appreciate your support along the way. We will continue to work hard on making CozyCal better.

We hope you and your family stay safe and well.
